Atomic Heart – My First Look via Geforce NOW Ultimate

I’m a gamer of my own path. I usually don’t follow reviews, but out of curiosity. There are the few times I am on the fence about a game. In those instances I go to Destructoid for guidance. With that said, in all scenarios surrounding this game, I’ve been directed away from Atomic Heart. Mediocre, clumsy are just some of the descriptions tossed at the title. However in my play through, granted so far (1.5 hours in),  I am enjoying the game. In addition I’m actually in awe by the atmospherics.

These are my initial pros & cons:

PRO

  • The atmospherics and presentation are the biggest draw to the game. It’s like a perfect mending of Bioshock Infinite & Fallout
  • The visuals are amazing in some regards
  • They have some interesting play mechanics in the game
  • The first 15 – 30 minutes is a big loveletter to the visual presentation of the game

CONS

  • It takes you about 30 mines to get into any real action lol
  • The game doesn’t do they best job explaining all the control mechanics before you have to use them
  • The dialogue is stiff and bad

My first hour and a half in, I’m really enjoying this game. Also due to the fantastic power of *Nvidia Geforce NOW, I am playing at 4K/120fps – all settings at max! That defiantly helps in the atmospherics department. Stay glued in here for more of these journal entries as we continue to play.
